Useful Information

In our experience guests appreciate knowing what they can expect from the accommodation and this section aims to provide useful information to answer some of the most common queries



Q :  What time can we make use of the property from and what time is check out?

A :  In the main season changeover day is a Friday, for short breaks we are flexible on days. The Lodge will be ready for you from 3pm and we ask that you check out by 10am on the day of departure.

Q : Are any provisions included in the welcome pack?

A:  We provide you with a cream tea, as well as an immediate supply of  milk, sugar, tea and coffee and fresh eggs from our hens (in the laying season!)  The Lodge also has salt and pepper, some spices/herbs, cooking oil, 2  loo rolls, kitchen roll,  dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and sponge as well as , a few washing machine tabs  and a spare bin liner.

Q:  Are there any shops locally?

A:   There is a village community shop in Week St Mary which is open every day of the week. The times of opening are in the information pack provided.   The shop is staffed mostly by volunteers from the village who are happy to welcome visitors and it  offers a good selection of groceries, including locally sourced meat and dairy products, fresh bakery goods from the Week St Mary bakery, wines and beers, newspapers etc.  There is also a post office counter for cashback should you need it.

Further afield, in Bude, there is a Morrisons, Lidl’s,  Sainsbury’s and a Co-Op with a Waitrose in Holsworthy so all tastes are catered for!

In addition to the shops, a mobile fish and chip van visits the village every Thursday evening from 5 – 6pm parking outside the shop.   The same van goes to the next village Marhamchurch on a Friday night.

Q:  Do supermarkets deliver?

A:  They do and if you wish to book a grocery delivery prior to your stay please let us know in advance  the slot time (between 12 and 3)  and we will take the order in for you putting away the fresh/frozen produce prior to your arrival.  NB please make sure you tell the driver NOT to try and go past the second set of gates as the road is not built for delivery vans past that point!


Q:  Is the kitchen fully equipped for self catering?

A:  Yes, over the time we have been welcoming guests we seek feedback at the end of their stays and have included additional items in accordance with their feedback.  New for 2018 is a washing machine in the kitchen for example.

Q: Is there baby equipment  available?

A: Yes we have a travel cot available with sheets, please bring your own additional bedding, ie duvet or blankets.   We also have a highchair,  stairgates at the top and bottom of the stairs as well as plug socket covers and a motion sensor night  light in the hallway downstairs. The upstairs bedroom window has a restricted opener on for added safety and a dimmer touch lamp which doubles as a night light.  We provide plastic plates and bowls as well as baby spoons.

Q: Is anyone on hand to help answer queries during our stay?

A: The owners are more than happy to help with any questions during your stay.  Let us know your expected time of arrival and we will be available to  “meet and greet” the guests to personally hand over the keys and explain how things work etc.

Q: Is there parking on site?

A:  Yes, there is parking for two cars directly outside the property.   The “in and out” driveway means its easy to enter and exit the property and the gates ensure that children and pets are safely contained whilst  you unload!

Q:  How far is it to the beach?

A: The nearest beaches are Summerleaze or Crooklets in Bude or Widemouth Bay.  All are within a 15 minute drive of the Lodge and offer a wide range of places to eat overlooking the sea in the evening as the sun sets.   There are restrictions  for dogs at certain times of the year for certain beaches, more information is provided in the leaflets in the lodge.  This enables families with children to choose which ones best suit their sandcastle building needs!

Q : Are towels and linen provided?

A : Yes large fluffy  bath towels  and hand towels are provided as are cotton sheets and duvet covers and two tea towels.   Two pillows are provided per bed but more are available on request if needed.  All mattresses are memory foam.
